Dad by Day, Developer by Night

I'm Quentin and I'm the Owner and Developer behind Applechino Designs. I'm very passionate about my wife and four boys as well as my business. My love for technology goes back my whole life, from when I played the Sega Genesis and Playstation 1 while still in diapers, to when I dabbled in programming languages when I was in middle school, to installing parts in my computer at the age of 15. I'm 100% self-taught and I'm learning new things every day!

Taking a Leap of Faith

My journey began in January 2022 when I decided to commit to learning development in my spare time. Armed with some Udemy courses, a pair of headphones, and plenty of caffeine, I spent countless nights learning the ins and outs of web development and building web applications. From there, I focused my attention on building static websites from scratch with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

One of the few things that trumps my love for technology is my family. With four children--one of which being on the autism spectrum--time is not a plentiful resource. That led me to planning my own business to work on my own time and terms so I can be as involved as possible in my childrens' lives.

After doing some research I discovered that despite how integral the internet has become, many businesses have outdated and poorly designed websites (or nothing at all!). Many business owners don't have the money to pay top-dollar for a quality custom website which leaves them with two options:

  • DIY Subscription - They want to save as much money as possible so they go with a cheap page-builder. However, due to the laundry list of dependencies they have, the limited customization options that are offered, and the countless hours they have to spend with upkeep, they wind up with a clunky and poorly optimized website which eventually goes stale after they no longer have the time to maintain it.
  • Cheap Cut-Rate Developer - They aren't sure who to trust and don't want to spend a ton of money only for it to go to waste, so they settle for a cheap, cookie-cutter website package from a freelancing website like Fiverr. Then they are not only left with a thrown-together website with all the corners cut, but they also have to keep the plugins and dependencies updated, handle the hosting going forward, and are left dangling in the wind when changes need to be made.

My mission from then on was to offer my services to an underserved market of small business owners that can't afford to pay high upfront costs. That's why my pricing model includes a monthly subscription option for $90 a month with no upfront deposit, which not only gets you a sleek custom website but even 24/7 ongoing support and unlimited website changes and updates. Where the big guys pay upwards of $3000 for a basic informational website, I start at $1750, which gets you full ownership with the option of 24/7 support going forward.

I've always dreamed of leaving a positive impact on the world and now that I'm capable of helping other business owners grow their businesses through the web, I'm doing it the right way--with integrity, transparency, and their best interests at heart.
